Firefighter/Paramedic Opportunity:
In 2009 the fire district began to employ career firefighter paramedics. The hiring process is in accordance with the Illinois Civil Service exam process consiting of a written exam, two oral interviews, background exam includeing polygraph, medical exam, and required to have a valid CPAT card within the last two years. In 2011 the district began to use the College of Dupage for its written exam process. hiring lists are posted for a period of two years. Testing will be posted at Public Safety Recruitment at time of test.
EMS Employment Opportunity:
We hire part-time EMS persons, who must be a State Certified Paramedic or EMT-Basic, able to function in the Will/Grundy System. The work schedule consists of working 6 hr. shifts manning our Advanced Life Support ambulance service. All prospective EMS personnel must complete our interview process, subject to an in-depth background check as well as, serve a one year probation period. In district personnel will be given precedence over out of district personnel for hiring purposes.
Fire Employment Opportunity:
Fire personnel are paid on call fire fighters. All district fire personnel must be State Certified Fire Fighter II, either at the time of employment or will be required to attend the fire academy which annually begins in January and finishes at the end of May. Fire personnel must live within the boundaries of the Coal City Fire Protection District. All prospective fire fighters must complete an interview process, subject to an in-dept background check as well as, serve a one year probation period.
